Xbox Controllers frequently asked questions
Xbox controllers are compatible with both PC and mobile devices. However, performance may vary when you connect a controller to a mobile device, depending on its operating system version. You can easily pair your controller to your PC or mobile device via Bluetooth.
To connect an Xbox controller to your iPhone via Bluetooth:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled.
- Turn on your Xbox Wireless Controller by pressing the Xbox button . If it’s already paired to an Xbox, turn off the controller, and then press and hold the Pair button for a few seconds.
- Your available devices will load on your iOS device. Select Xbox Wireless Controller. Wait until the controller and the Apple device show as paired before exiting the screen.
To connect your controller to your PC:
- Turn on your controller by pressing the Xbox button .
- Press the controller’s Pair button for 3 seconds and release.
- On your PC, select the Start button , and then select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth (on Windows 11, select Settings > Bluetooth & devices).
- Use the toggle to turn Bluetooth to On so that your Windows device can discover other Bluetooth devices.
- Select Add Bluetooth or other device (on Windows 11, select Add device).
- In the Add a device screen, select Bluetooth, and then wait for Xbox Wireless Controller to appear on the list of devices.
- When the controller appears in the list, select it and wait for the confirmation that your devices have connected.
To connect your Xbox controller to an Android device:
- Turn on your controller by pressing the Xbox button .
- Press the controller’s Pair button for 3 seconds and release.
- On your Android device, open Bluetooth by going to Apps > Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device.
- Your phone will show a list of nearby Bluetooth devices that are available for pairing. Select your Xbox Wireless Controller from the list.
You can configure the button layout on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 using the Xbox Accessories app. To change your button layout:
- Open the Xbox Accessories app.
- Scroll to your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and select Configure.
- Select a profile to adjust or create a new one.
- Select the Edit button and in the Mapping tab select the icon or letter for the button or input you’d like to change.
- Select Primary and in the pop-up menu select a tab to see what functions are available.
- Select the function to remap the button to.
- Select Ok to confirm the change.
