This fleet of units were designed to expand ScotRail’s electric fleet. Following modernisation of Scotland’s Central Belt, which saw electrification come to many key lines, the Class 385 entered service in 2018, and since has allowed for fully electric services on the Glasgow - Edinburgh Line.
